SURFACE PREPARATION
All
surfaces to be coated must be clean and free of dirt, dust,
oil, grease, loose scale, laitance, efflorescence and other
contaminants.
Patch
all holes and cracks in concrete and masonry with Vinyl
Cement Patch or UP 2000.
Stop
active water leaks with U-Plug. Exterior masonry walls and
interior of perimeter basement walls should be waterproofed
with U-Seal and allowed to cure for a minimum 48 hours.
APPLICATION
Stir
Weather Guard well and use as it comes from the factory.
For
some spray applications it may be necessary to thin the Weather
Guard slightly. Use only clean water. No more than 1/2 pint
(250ml) of water per 5 gallon (18.9L) pail, since thinning
will have a detrimental effect on colour density.
Use
a full bodied roller or brush designed specifically for applying
acrylic paints.
If
the weather is very hot, dry or windy, or if the wall surface
is very hot or very porous, dampen the wall surface slightly
prior to application of Weather Guard.
Apply
Weather Guard in an approved manner taking care to avoid lapmarks.
The quick drying feature of Weather Guard allows the second
coat to be applied within 1 to 2 hours.
CLEAN
UP
Wash
brushes, rollers or spray equipment immediately after use
with warm soapy water.
Note:
In order to provide maximum protection and durability a base
coat of U-Seal applied to concrete block or poured concrete
at exterior above grade locations or at below grade interior
locations is recommended.
LIMITATIONS
Do not apply Weather Guard
at temperatures below 10°C (50°F). Do not apply over
frozen or frost-filled surfaces. Do not apply over chalking
or dusting surfaces.
