Surface
Preparation
- Clean
area free of dirt, dust, loose debris, paint or any contaminants.
- Repair
and fill any cracks and holes using Stone Mason repair products.
Moisten concrete with clean water prior to application of
Stone Mason Wall Finish Base Coat.
- To
obtain a professional finish, the Texture Coats must be
applied over a smooth and level surface. Irregular surfaces
such as concrete, concrete block, brick, etc. must receive
a base coat of Stone Mason Wall Finish Base Coat. Allow
24 hours to cure.
- Apply
Stone Mason Wall Finish Prime Coat over area to be covered
with Stone Mason Wall Finish Texture Coat. This will provide
a uniform base colour, extend working time and promote better
adhesion of texture coats. Let dry for approximately 2 hours.
Mixing:
Although
the product comes to you ready to use, it is important to
thoroughly mix Stone Mason Wall Finish Texture Coat to a uniform
workable consistency. A power drill with paint mixer attachment
is recommended.
Application:
- Use
a small test area to develop the technique required in order
to obtain the desired texture.
- Use
a stainless steel or plastic trowel to lay material on wall
surface.
- Spread
to thin even thickness. Recommended minimum thickness for
Venetian and Pebbelcoat is 1.6mm (1/16") and for Freeform
3.0mm (1/8").
- To
eliminate lap marks, maintain and work from a wet edge at
all times.
- Texturing:
Interesting and unique effects can be created by a uniform
trowel motion and/or type of tool used to create the texturing.
It should be textured within 10-15 min. of applying Stone
Mason Wall Finish Texture Coat.
Alternate
Application: Another suggested application of the texture
coat is a spray-on method for those who do not wish to use
a trowel. Stone Mason Wall Finish Texture Coat can be sprayed
on utilizing a standard hopper spray unit. Each of the three
finishes has a little different consistency and we suggest
you use a small test area to develop the technique required
to obtain the texturing consistency you seek. Spray texture
coatings using approximately 15-18 psi, 1 m (2-3 feet) away
from wall surface. Upon completion, proceed with the various
trowel motions to obtain required texture.
Note:
Clean tools regularly during application.
Note:
The Venetian and Pebblecoat textures are achieved by using
a light , uniform circular and/or vertical motion. The Freeform
texture provides the opportunity to create unique and dramatic
patterns using a variety of tools, trowel motions and techniques
on single or multiple coats.
Wise
Tips:
- Use
a small test area to develop technique required in order
to obtain the desired texture.
- Use
only stainless steel or plastic trowels to avoid staining.
- To
eliminate lap marks, maintain a "wet edge" at
all times, working continuously to complete sections. Work
in area segments of approx. 1.8m square (4'x5').
- Start
from upper area and work down using upward trowel motions.
- Clean
tools frequently during application.
Do not re-trowel over completed area. For corrections re-apply
application steps 2 to 5 in 24 hours.
