Preparation
for Installation
Concrete
Substrate: Curing and drying of new concrete must be for
minimum 28 days prior to the application of Stone Mason Concrete
Finish System products.
Cleaning
- The
surface of the concrete must be free of grease, oil, dirt,
paint, and any sealers before proceeding with the Stone
Mason Concrete Finish System. Clean your concrete surface
using a solution of 20% muriatic acid and 80% water and
apply with a stiff broom in a vigorous motion. Always wear
protective clothing, rubber gloves and safety goggles to
keep acid solution away from your skin and eyes.
- Rinse
concrete thoroughly after acid cleaning, using a garden
hose.
- Prepare
a solution of baking soda (Arm and Hammer or equivalent)
using 4 lbs. per 5 gallons of water. Broom mixture onto
concrete surface to neutralize the acid. Rinse again to
complete the process.
Concrete
Repair: Damaged Concrete Surfaces must be repaired to
a smooth, flat surface prior to application of "Stone
Mason Concrete Finish System". Stone Mason Concrete Crack
Filler is recommended for concrete cracks and Stone Mason
Vinyl Cement is recommended for repair of damaged concrete.
Slope:
The concrete surface must be sloped to assure drainage of
water. We recommend ¼" per linear foot. Water
should not be allowed to stand or puddle on the Stone Mason
Concrete Finish System after it is completed.
