SURFACE
PREPARATION : Cut out all cracked, chipped and deteriorated
concrete until a sound surface is obtained. Clear area free
of dust, dirt and oily contamination. Rinse area with clean
water, leaving a damp, puddle free surface.
Mixing:
Primer: Included in the pail. Add water to the primer
container until full and shake to mix.
Mixing: E-Z
Flow Patching Cement:
Mix 1 US Gallon (4L) clean water with 50lb. (22.7 kg.) Stone
Mason E-Z Flow Patching Cement. Mix until a smooth, creamy,
pourable consistency is achieved. A power mixer is recommended.
Let stand for 2 minutes and remix. Add more water if needed
to obtain a proper flow. Do not add too much water or over
mix. Over watering and over mixing will decrease strength,
abrasion resistance and may cause cracking and other surface
defects.
APPLICATION:
Brush or roll-on diluted primer onto the surface to be repaired.
Let the primer dry to a tack free surface before applying
the E-Z Flow Patching Cement (approx. 20 minutes to 1 hour).
Absorbent concrete may require two applications of the primer
to prevent development of pinholes, bubbles and loss of adhesion.
Place the Stone Mason E-Z Flow Patching Cement onto primed
surface by pouring it out of the mixing pail. Light trowelling
may be required to assist flow of product and to obtain proper
feather edging. Build up in layers no thicker than 1 inch
(2.54cm) at one time but not less the ¼" (0.64cm)
with the exception of feather edging. Do not apply a second
layer until the previous pour takes foot traffic, under normal
conditions, 4 to 6 hours. If more than 24 hours have passed
from the first application, re-prime the surface before pouring
the next layer.
Another way of patching areas greater than 1" thickness
is to add washed pea gravel ¼" (6mm) in size to
the Stone Mason E-Z Flow Patch. Mix Stone Mason E-Z Flow Patching
Cement with water first, then add pea gravel. Use 20lb. (9kg)
of pea gravel per 50lbs. (22.7kg) pail. If aggregate is wet,
reduce the amount of water to avoid over watering
LIMITATIONS:
Apply when temperatures are above 5°C (40°F) and no
rain is forecasted for the next 24 hours. Do not apply to
frozen surfaces. Do not apply to surfaces that are subjected
to hydrostatic pressure. Stone Mason E-Z Flow Patching Cement
will not correct or compensate for problems caused by structural
defects.
CURING:
In hot, windy weather and direct sunlight, the repaired surface
should be covered with wet burlap or plastic and kept moist
for 24 hours. Stone Mason E-Z Flow Patching Cement can be
open to foot traffic in 4 to 6 hours, light traffic if 24
hours and heavy traffic in 72 hours.
